Just under a week since Xerocon UK wrapped up and I’m still buzzing from the excitement. Who would’ve thought an accounting conference could conjure up such a feeling, but as we have seen over the years, Xero has a knack for making us all feel part of the cloud software fairy tale. With over 800 attendees it was clear the UK is fast catching up with New Zealand and Australia in terms of technology and innovation uptake.
One of the great parts of any Xerocon is the array of inspiring and thought provoking guest speakers. Karren Brady (Vice Chairman of West Ham FC), David Rowan (Editor of WIRED Magazine) and Ruth Clifton (Brand Guru at BrandCap) were the headline acts and certainly did not disappoint.
The importance of branding your business appropriately was the prevailing theme throughout all the presentations – a topic that I believe was relevant not just for accounts and their clients but also for software companies like us exhibiting as Add-On partners in the next room.
It wouldn’t be a Xerocon without new product reveals and this year it wasn’t just Xero announcing new features. On top of Craig Walker and Andrew (Tokes) Tokeley taking us through Xero’s new Quotes, Payroll and Custom Reporting; we also had Add-On Partner of Year Receipt Bank showing us their new Practice Platform and Debtor Chasing Add-On Satago announcing their integration with
Credit Rating provider Experian. The excitement around these big reveals was so immense that the team here at Re-Leased are buzzing about our own reveal at Xerocon Auckland!
Rod Drury and his team have always been clear about their goal of becoming a fully featured accounting software in the cloud, so with the announcement of Payroll rolling out for UK and NZ in March plus the addition of Quotes released in January, Xero are now matching all the features desktop accounting provides with the added convenience of the cloud platform.
The strategy for Xero going forward is all based around “BIG DATA” – big data that informs small businesses and big data that directs successful marketing. Buzzword it may be, but this is the tune you will hear all Xeros singing in 2015.
As the #1 Add-On for Property Owners in the Xero ecosystem we couldn’t be more excited to see the progress Xero and technology will make over the next few years!
